Dr. Zehren states, "It has been a dream of mine for many years to work in an office dedicated to the patient experience. After many years of analysis and planning, the site at Mankato Avenue became available and it seemed like a perfect fit for our team and our patients." The clinic is designed for patient comfort and utilizes ergonomic design to enhance the dental provider capabilities. Zehren has worked with a local architect and general contractor, Warneke and Associates and Wapasha Construction respectively. Additional layout and design assistance was provided by Patterson Dental, Eagan, MN. Dr. Zehren used his previous experience as an US Navy Dentist to study and provide Dentistry in different dental clinic settings around the globe.

His experience in a US Navy Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, with the Fleet Marine Force in Okinawa, Japan and onboard a Submarine Tender (USS McKee AS-41) based out of San Diego shaped his vision for the new dental office in Winona. Those international experiences have also reinforced the importance of home and family for Dr. Zehren who is married to Kimberly and has two children Hayden and Hudson.

According to Dr. Zehren, “I’ve always been drawn to the water, especially to the Mississippi River as a child. It's one of the main reasons for returning to the scenic Winona area to practice dentistry. When I saw the view of Lake Winona from the new building site, it just clicked. I envisioned the patients sharing that same tranquil view of Lake Winona while sitting in the dental chair. Our dental team looks forward to providing dental care in that same tranquil setting."

Zehren Dental has been a vital business in downtown Winona for many years occupying the former Ted Maier Drug Store location. Together with Dr. Pete's dad, Dr. Roger Zehren, the Zehren name has been providing dentistry in Winona for over 70 years combined. Dr. Pete hopes that they can reach a combined 100 years of dental service to the Winona community. “That would be awesome.” claims Dr. Pete.
